Wentworth Health Partners Seacoast Integrative Medicine has implemented a system to improve patient care known as an electronic medical record or EMR. The new system uses computer or electronic systems to store, update and retrieve patient information. The result is easy and quick access for caregivers and their patients. The information is also up to date, secure and safer than paper record systems. - Computer technology means your record is clear to all of your physicians and healthcare providers.
- Increased patient safety. Clear documentation provided in an EMR system helps reduce medical and prescription errors.

- Increased likelihood of illness prevention and successful treatment. EMR systems provide tracking functions that remind patients to get preventative immunizations or screening procedures such as mammograms and colonoscopies at the recommended frequencies.
Physician and caregivers in our practice enter information into laptops or other computer devices. The record includes our medical history, medications, and lab and other test results. Insurance information is also part of the complete record.
Your first visit may take a little longer as the staff adjust to this new system. This extra time will save time during future visits. The caregivers will be entering information into a laptop or computer instead of writing on paper charts.
Yes. One of the advantages of the new system is the ability to share information with patients. Your caregiver can review the information with you as they enter it. You can also request a printed version for your personal records.
Yes. We currently offer the NextMD Patient Portal. The Patient Portal allows patients to request appointments, refill prescriptions, receive test results, and ask general questions. Your EMR is available to physicians, providers and staff in Wentworth Health Partners and Wentworth-Douglass Hospital organizations. EMR information is password protected and stored securely on a private network. All employees/affiliates can access only that information necessary for completing job responsibilities. Staff are expected to fully comply with all policies governing the protection of patient information and as such all staff sign an annual confidentiality statement.
Several practices with physicians on the medical staff at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital are also introducing electronic medical records systems. Over the next few years the majority of primary care physician practices will be using EMRs.
Yes. As part of a wide effort to improve the quality of information, reduce errors and maintain patient privacy, a national goal is in place to establish EMRs across the country within 10 years.
Wentworth Health Partners Seacoast Integrative Medicine is proud to be part of this initiative and leading the way in superior care for our patients. Many of the changes made at the practice to introduce EMR for our patients are behind the scenes. All staff received extensive training prior to implementing the system and will continue to receive training as upgrades and enhancements are introduced. EMR has changed the way we make appointments, create records, process medication orders and other tests and how our clinicians and physicians work every day.
